NIKOS ENGONOPOULOS (1907-1985)


Aunqe Nikos Engonópulos se sentía más pintor qe poeta, es por esta última profesión qe se conoce más su nombre. Procedentes del surrealismo, los cuadros de Engonópulos no dejan de ser atractivos. La poesía de este autor griego también es genial.
GRIEF'S APPRENTICE

it set out at dawn
- break of day -
to steal
the stars
it set out
at night
and killed
all the
dreams
that statue

- and as it walked
its bare feet
got caught
in the bushes
and bled on the thorns

and its gentle, graceful hands
like to birds in spring caressed
the geraniums that it called a night of love
and the deep clasps
of its maiden dream-interpreter red
and its breasts' cries and secret tassels
